Two-Way Datalink Automates Communications

UniLink provides pilots with a two-way datalink for automated air-ground communications.

System capabilities include flight planning, clearances, automatic position reporting, aircraft triggered events, weather information in text and graphical displays, plus messaging.

Using the Flight Management System (FMS) shown at right, a software menu gives you easy access to send or receive data. Flight plans can be uplinked through UniLink, and loaded directly into the FMS. Position reports, and other data from the FMS, can be automatically downlinked.

Another major UniLink advantage is the ability to display graphics, including color weather graphics. Supported weather maps include composite radar, tops and movements, IR satellite, weather depiction, significant weather, as well as winds and temperatures aloft depiction.

As the aerospace industry moves toward reducing voice communications, in favor of a "free flight" airspace environment, the UniLink suite provides you with a growth path. Take advantage of a growth path to evolving communication, navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) routing, and the communication benefits of tomorrow.

Flexible, Affordable Systems

While maintaining full ACARS (Aircraft Communications and Reporting System) compatibility, a UniLink system makes available datalink communications at a fraction of the size, weight, and cost of traditional datalink or ACARS systems.

info_unilink_mfd640_display.jpgUniLink was designed to support several communications media - including VHF, telephony, and Satcom.

The UniLink features interface with, and can be controlled by, Universal Avionics' Flight Management Systems. UniLink also works with their Multi-Function Displays, such as the MFD 640 shown at left. Any of these devices connect with the UniLink Communications Management Unit (CMS) hardware, which lets you communicate over the Iridium network.

The versatile design allows for increased installation flexibility and commonality in mixed-media fleet operations. This results in optimal efficiency and economy in data transmissions for multimedia aircraft installations.

With its UniLink compatibility, Aircell once again provides you with the inflight information you want. With its global Satcom capabilities, Aircell also provides you with information anywhere you fly.
